'47 Dodge shop truck

I'm guessing mechanical fuel pump clearance for a motor that has been moved back on the frame.

The other question is what was it cut with?
That sure looks like a tetanus initiating event if you ever had to work around that hole.

Looks a hole lot better since Pops has had his way with it.

That hole was really ugly. Someone had a 350 mounted really low
and it was for the mechanical fuel pump clearance.

I started on the motor mounts for the 360 Dodge. I liked the ease
of pulling the motor out of the '99 Dodge truck so I'm using them.
They are kinda ugly but no one will see them with the hood and
side covers on.

This motor has no mechanical fuel pump so I'll run an electric pump.
Any one know of a good pump for the money that's on the quiet side?
Man someone needs to clean up the shop!

Got the removable transmission cross member in and my helper and I
started getting the cab fitted around the motor. Hung the fenders back
on to check for clearance. It all looks like it will work. I wanted the engine
mounted higher up in the engine bay. I think it looks way better than with
it down in that hole.

Need to figure out what to do so I can pull the distributor if needed, do the
floor and dash and steering and brakes and seat and........
Never ending.

I'm curious, why mount the engine so far back and cut the firewall when it looks like it could go forward and have a flat firewall? I just see a lot of people cut firewalls unnecessarily and then complain about leg room so I'm curious what the reason for yours was.

The front nose of these trucks are really narrow. The radiator is only 19" wide and to get the fan clearance, that's where it needs to be. I'll still have plenty of leg room.

I guess I'm hard headed when it comes to electric fans cause I hate having to listen to one. So I refuse to use one.

That's all I've got to justify my twisted ways. I think it will all work. I hope so!

It is really hard to find a nicely done Dodge at shows to copy. Hopefully we can make more people decide to build dodges.

My little brother has a '40 that he has been hauling around for 20 years. It was rust free when we hauled it to the Washington coast. I hope it doesn't end there. He offered it to me once, but then regained his senses. I saw a fill on custom googling them. It has a Chrysler 300 grille and super sliced and diced.
