Here is some of the progress i made so far on my homemade box for my 47 ford. I am using 2x2x1/4" tube across the frame, 1 1/2 x 1/8" angle iron, and 18 gauge sheet metal.

Thanks 42chevy........I sat down in the garage and just stared at it for a while and started drawing what i am hoping to build on a piece of paper.....Hopefully it turns out like i imagine it will....

Here are some pictures from today's work. Ran out of welding wire, and debating on running into town. Anyways, i used some 1 1/2" 12gauge tubing for my bed rails.....

I like what you have done on the box. [cl I have been thinking of doing something like that to my 46. Its always good to see how others do things and get ideas from them. Thanks for the input. Got the brain cells thinking about things now.

Well let me know if you need any measurements or anything. As of today, i have about 70 bucks in the box.

looking good

nice work !!! [;) It looks like the c notch in the frame will prevent a flat floor. Or is it an illusion.

Just the angle of the camera.

No fenders, hopefully i will find some old skool wire wheels and get em back on the road.......

i own 5 mustangs, the twin turbo car in the picture (grey) is the only stang i am working on...the rest of em run good.

The bed is lookin good! I thought about building for my truck but ended up buying a original international bed and shortin it thinking it would save me some work! Boy was I wrong!

Today i was able to build my tailgate and put a piece of metal across the outside bottom of the bed. For my tailgate, i used 1X2x11gauge tubing, a sheet of 14gauge diamond plate and some 1/2" inside O.D. pipe and 1/2" rod for hinges. Here is what it looks like as of today:

Pop rivet look

Well i decided i wanted a pop rivet look on the box, kind of make it stand out on it's own. I went and bought 1/4" x 1" carriage bolts and nuts. Using a 17/64th drill bit, drilled holes and squared them off a bit for the bolt and then attached them. I plan on tack welding the nuts to the inside of the box frame so they wont come loose.......Here are some pics of what i have done so far today, and I am not even near complete yet, just sharing the look:

I sure like the rivet look , Why is the bottom of the gate not flush with the bottom of the bed floor ? Just curious , The gate is sharp , nice craftsmanship all around !
