Rebuilding my 70s era 472 Caddy engine. Currently doing the valves.
When I took apart my valves & springs there were some kind of hard plastic valve stem caps that attached to the top of the valve spring cap. Of course most broke apart when I removed the valve springs & valves. There were no soft rubber caps covering where the valve stem exits the valve guide. My replacement valve stem caps are soft rubber and are tight on the valve stem but loose over the valve stem guide. I cant find the hard plastic OEM style caps.
Should the valve stem cap be loose over the stem guide? To me it looks like the cap will move with the valve stem.
