I'w wondering what some of you have used for a drag link when using the stock front axle and steering arm off the spindle?

I'm temped to just lengthen or shorten the stock drag link after rebuilding it, but I also like the idea of having tie rods or heim joints as well on it instead of the stock setup...

I'm still sorting out the steering box, which I believe will be the toyota 4x4 power box, and a pitman arm from one of the ps conversion kits... I just have not ordered one because I'm not sure if I am going to use a tie rod, a heim joint or the stock ball in socket setup.

I attached a picture form an old mock up, I'm thinking about maybe mounting the box so the shaft is horizontal to run the steering shaft on top of the frame rail.

Anyhow, thoughts from the F1-F6 guys on what they are doing or have done would be appreciated.:)

I simply buy mine from Speedway. They have off the rack ones in various lengths with either tie rod ends or rod ends that will usually fit. Or , they will custom make them for you at whatever length you need if a stock one is too long or short. The cost isn't bad and they come ready to bolt on.

steering f1

what I have done so far..Hopes this helps..( you can see the original (short ,draglink)
I used a steering link(tie-rod_ ,I had laying around and extended it, by fitting 6"solid bar stock inside of it. plug welded 4 (180)places ,then weld solid! all the way around it, (leaving a gap to penetrate all !)..
>eliminating the ball/spring socket that was stock......using new tie-rod ends.
pitman arm should be 90* to drag link ,in straight ahead position..
