48 studebaker

[Studebaker]

[i started this thing back in october and dont get alot of time on it as to i work to much. this is a 48 studebaker cab and i used an 80 gm frame [[

Hey Studebaker my mother found this in the woods near her home in Ala. If your truck turns out good, and it should, i might have to pull this one home.

i chopped off 2 feet of frame in the front and put a manual rack in for steering, the only thing is i dont know how to connect the tie rods together cuase there different sizes and the same right handed thread

i chopped the floor out and the firewall, it wasnt gonna work right

the flooring was fairly simple, there wasnt much of a tranny hump to build

Omd that is a cool looking beater, id say get it. The cab is the only thing that i got so thats what i had to use, and it is my first major build

there was no side skirt in front of the door, so i had to make one, there was a little piece of hood that came with it so i welded it to the cam to extend it out a bit

i decided the frame was to long so i chopped out 12 inches in the front of were the cab mounts, i set up the motor 14" back from stock and lowered it in the frame

Connecting the rod ends together isnt that hard. The way I did mine was to measure the distance you need, allowing a couple of inches to thread up on the rod end and ball joint. Have a machine shop bore and thread a sleeve to your measurements that will screw onto the rack rod end and tread the other end to receive you ball joint. Heres a couple of pics picture that might help you understand what I am saying. After I got mine together I welded the sleeve to the rack rod and the adjustments are made from the ball joint.
