hey everyone ,
after a while of looking for a project, i finally managed to haggle this cab out of an old bloke i knows collection for $100.
The doors and body are fairly good but the floors going to need re doing, any advice on cutting out and remaking the floor would be handy [S

Ive got the cab in the shed now making up some cross braces for it before i start because the floor slightly broke in half loading it off haha.

Gotta love the old fords =)

If you check my build thread, I am re-doing the entire floor, and although I have not started doing the sheet metal, have a look at what I did for the bottoms of the A-pillar where it meets the floor, as well as the rocker area. It's much stronger than stock.

I would start by getting some cross braces put in once you have the body level, and the measurements from corner to corner are even.

hey thanks for the info, Im gunna be doing my floor pretty much the same.
I'm just having trouble making sure everything's square and braced properly because the floors broken down the middle and the cabs just flopping around in the breeze [S

I put the doors back on and got all the gaps and measurements even then tacked them closed with some scrap steel. now hopefully after i get the diagonal measurements even I'll put the braces in and be able to take off the doors.

oh well back to the shed, i'll put some photos up soonly

Nice score! That looks like quite the field of dreams that you plucked your cab from....[P

It was[dr, this cab and probably 1 or 2 others would be 'usable' unfortunately theres lots of old headlights, grills and flathead parts that i'll be going back to get off him.

I did a bit of work on the firewall today and all the seams are filled with rust and the spot welds have all broke. should i take the firewall out at the same time as the floor or just tack it back up for now and fix it when the floors finished?

Got a bit more done on the floor, its turning out to be a lot rustier than i had hoped.
By the end of this my panel beating skills will be much healthier :D

Any advice on doing a floor would be handy right about now [S haha

Build a 1"x1" tubing skeleton and then reskin that with 18 gauges sheet metal

Weld the 1x1 frame to the cab where the floor used to be

making some progress

Im getting back into building this thing, after i blew my escort motor up and had to rebuild it haha.

Unfortunately i'm getting it sandblasted :(, our weather here is way to miserable to drive around in a bare metal rusty car, it will be rusted away in no time. im still leaving all the lovely dints and imperfections and i might use a roller for the paint to make it look a bit more authentic.

does anyone know what color's these old things came out in ?
