I think your right about the shackles being horizontal with no weight. I have thought about to welding the tubes on the other side of the angle iron. Might try that today and see what happens. The spring is a 29" fromt lucky 7 and the shackles are also lucky 7. They measure out to 33" from shackle center eye to center eye. I will hopefully have something posted later today. Thanks for the info guys.

Put the disc brakes back on to see it fully assembled. Going today to get the '88 Full size bronco, 4x4 with a 302 and manual 5 speed. It will be my donor truck/ sell parts off it to get money truck.

Bought it for $800 from a buddy. I plan on parting out what I don't need. The 302 needs freeze plugs and then the motor will be in working order. Hopefully I can get the metal for the frame soon.

Made some progress on the frame yesterday. The front in Z'ed 4" and the Back 12". I am waiting on putting any cross members in until I can get the motor pulled along with the transmission from the bronco. Once I do that I can size it up with the frame rails and work on the brackets for that.

I looking for the cab rails to sit about 4 to 6 inch off the ground level. Some where around that and I will be happy. I plan on putting some gusset plates at the joints to strengthen the frame.

I put a big X crossmember in mine but to get started I figured out the width and tacked in the very front where the axle will mount(keep in mind your tires and radius rods have to clear) and then put temporarys at the z and behind the cab. that way you can set the cab on and off and hold the motor over it to find where it all goes. then put in the right memember and cut out the temps! Also I tacked the all the section left and right together before tacking front to rear. Sounds weird but you get perfect twins. tacked the fronts together , the Zs together , the undercabs together, and then tack the front to the z to the cab part and you know they will be exact matches when you spilt them. wow sounds confusing typed haha. havent made th rear z yet. doin it last.
