Well here's the one i've been tinkering on for awhile. It is a 54 pontiac pathfinder special deluxe.Yes a canadian pontiac for all of you south of the border.Originally built in oshawa, ontario this one is #13 off the production line in 54 and the second special deluxe built that year.It sat in a garage for about 20 years then was brought out in the early 90's and given a repaint. It is very close to the original color which is peublo tan.The powerplant is a 239 flathead 6,with a powerglide automatic behind it.Originally it was supposed to have a hydramatic but due to a plant fire in 53 the first 5000 or so in 54 got powerglides. The car was driven for a short while in the early 90's then they broke the tranny, parked the car, started to dis-mantle it but never finished the repair. Now it's mine and since i didn't know where they started or finished with the fix i had to go back to the basics.I removed the front clip, pulled the mtor and trans.Dismantled the powerglide and rebuilt it,finding a broken low/reverse anchor in the process which is what i suspect sidelined the car.I then took the motor down to the block, removed the oilpan cleaned it out, checked the bearings, cam, and cylinders and everything looked decent.Rebuilt the generator, starter, and dist.Fixed the broken bolts in the exhaust/intake manifold. The carb looks to be recently rebuilt so re-installed it.Basically new gaskets in everything, located a thermostat for it,new plugs and wires.Lots of wirebrushing and repainting of parts,re-installled the inner fenders.Still have some work to do,like put in a new carpet, etc but getting very close to start up and getting back on the road. The best part is it came with a parts car which is a 54 pontiac 2 door sedan delivery.Turns out to be a very rare car as less than 300 where made and only about 30 or so known to still exsist. It will be the next into the shop.It is somewhat similar to a american cheifton, but different rear fenders, taillights, rear glass, trunk, front sheet metal is all canadian pontiac, interiors are unique to canda but just to screw you up they use a radio that says chiefton on it.The original spare and jack were still in the trunk.
