Like you guys I always wondered why they didn't do reruns of 77 sunset strip. Then one time a few years ago they actually started running them here on Nick at Night or one of those channels. They ran them late, like at 1 am, but I was determined to watch them and see Norms T again in action.

For about two weeks I sat up every night and watched that nights episode, and hoping that would be one of the shows where they used the car. Long story short, it never came on, and I got so tired of staying up late and watching that I finally gave up. Also, our memories of how these shows actually were is a little clouded.........the acting and plots were horrible. I guess we were easier to entertain back then. Then I found out that out of 4 years of shows they only used the T in 8 episodes! How did I remember seeing it every week when I was a kid?

I bet the same is true of lots of shows that we remember as icons. If we could watch them now we would wonder what we were thinking. :D:D

a few years back is when i stumbled on the show about 2am like u did..i just purchased cable and was surfing all night long..haven't seen nor heard of the show since.......things were slower back in the 50's and 60's didn't take much to get one's atention....it's easy to get on that SPEED FEEDBACK FORM..i had heard the SPEED channel was very receptive to suggestions...during the recent Barret Jackson show the announcer mentioned how the SPEED channel is listening to people...

I remember corvette summer, and more American Graffiti. We saw the car at the drive in when my kids were little and it scared the **** out of them. So did the Exorcist. (scared me too :eek::eek:)

There was another hot rod movie entitled "The Lively Set" some cool roadsters in it.

My buddy and I were cruising his orange 62 Vette and had a car load of gigglers pull up beside us and ask if that was the car from Corvette Summer, never heard of the movie before that. I never got 77SS when I was a kid but that T's influence ran far and wide, we all knew about Kookie Burns and the T/
What engine did it have? I was thinking it was a 312 but that looks like a Caddy in the remake?

It was a Caddy. '53 I think. Story goes his Dad had a stock Caddy and Norm talked him into putting a rebuilt engine in it so that Norm could have the old one to rebuild and put in the T. That T was actually done in a different form the first time, different from what we remember from the show. It was black, sat lower, and called the Bug or Lightning Bug.

Von Franco did a spot on recreation of both cars. As far as I know he still has the black version but sold the blue one. He was so authentic in the clone that he dug up some of the original parts like the exhaust headers that people had stored in rafters and stuff like that.

Here is a picture of the first version. For a while he used a borrowed blower on it but could never get it to run right so he pulled it off.
