89 GMC tranny with o/d

How do I hook up a o/d tranny ? Does it need some sort of computer/ switch ?

If it's a 4l60 or 4l80 it will. A 700r4 would probably be a better trans to use if you don't want to deal with all that wiring.

It probably has a lock up converter, a simple switch usually works for that......Also looks like that one has an electronic speedo. I believe a cable one can be swapped into that

TCI and a lot of trans. companies make a reasonably priced control kit for the 700r.

also it uses a TV Cable that HAS to be adjusted very close to spec or the forward clutches will be toast.

What does it even hook up to , I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff , my experience level is rebuilding engine and lots of fabrication, IV replaced a few engines but I normally steer clear of the trannys
