The old Tripper loves unusual homes & the one I just sold was like an old brick & steel store. Right now I'm converting an old cinder block washeteria into my house & building a new car guy garage! But... here's my next one! It's made with shipping containers. This is around 2,400 sf & I'm gonna build most of it myself!

ditto on the rat house/garage,
so house or garage?
the washateria thing I can see,
cept for the cost of heating,
and maybe no parking,
and cost of cooling,
and no outside storage,
and limited remodel/expansion room,
and a lot of windows,
oh well keep us informed.

forgot,
and the women that still insist you take there dirty clothes/underwear, cuz they'll be com'n back at 4pm, and they better be clean!

Bob, I've seen some great shops built in that fashion, using conex containers for the sides. One guy had also scored some 30 foot trusses and had the containers holding up the ends and built a hanger. The house idea rocks!!

I bet that most of us guys think the same way. Our ideal home would be a 10 car garage, with a 2 bedroom apartment above. Trying to convince the little ladies in our lives that is ideal is another matter altogether.:D:D

My wife is great. We have a small house but my shop is only 30 square feet smaller than the house. I have fixed up the house the way she wanted it though. I like the idea you have.

I had an Uncle that used 2 boxcars as the base for his house after he came back from WWII. You couldn't even tell by looking at it, unless you knew.
