Alaska Fishing Trip

Spent the last 2 weeks in Alaska. Flew into Anchorage for a couple of days then on to the Kenai Peninsula for Halibut and Salmon fishing. [cl

Had dinner and a beer at Humpy's brew pub downtown.











Lots of flowers downtown.

Took a trolley tour to see Anchorage.


Gweenie's for reindeer sausage for breakfast.

Anchorage at 12:00 midnight

Anchorage Zoo.

Saw some old iron.


And some mountain goats on our drive down to Soldotna

We stayed at the Kenai Riverbend Resort in Soldotna, AK. Really great folks running and they sent up what ever kind of fishing you want to do, supply all your tackle and will clean pack and ship you fish.

After we check n they asked us if we wanted to fishing since the Reds (sockeye) had just started running that day. Went down and caught a few before dinner.



Our first full day there we drove down to Ninilchik to go halibut fishing. Caught four nice size fish.

Second day went King (Chinook) salmon fishing.

My wife Robin caught one about 15lbs.


And I caught one 48lbs.


Then we went out and caught a few more Reds.

Had a free day and went to Homer.







Got back to the resort and hit the river again.

We did a fly out fishing trip to Wolverine Creek.

Saw some more Alaska wildlife.

Flew over some more glaciers on our way back.







Caught a few more reds.

Yes Alaska is beautiful country. We really enjoyed our time up there and fresh salmon is so good.

WB we did have the reindeer sausage for breakfast at Gweenie's. Best place in town to eat.

Had lunch at Gweenies when we were there. Slept over at Ninilchik too. Met a Russian guy there that showed us his days catch - he was all excited because he had to cut the heads off to fit them in his 4' long cooler.
