If you find an old engine from a '65 to '68 Mercury you might find those tappet covers, and it's my theory that the tall covers signify that it is a 410 ci. You might get lucky like I did. You are right that a 428 crank sure wakes up an FE. Good luck.

It's been too hot to do anything. My boss needed a Fe pushrod for the 66 f100 so since it will be next year before mine is on the road I donated one of mine. In return he gave me his built 429 and new C6. My 360 was so gunked up inside I had to dig for the rocker shaft bolts. The 66 ford 352 was just as bad and only had 44000 miles on it.

I can't find one local, I thought about that too. You don't see many bullet noses anymore. I love it too that they are both 1950.

It was too hot to weld today but I got everything squared up and ready. I put the rear wheels on to see how wide to make the bed and decided to downsize my 71 bed to 48 inches long and 45 inches wide. By cutting out 34 inches out of the center, the tail gate will go from FORD to FD. I measured everything and i think it will work out nicely.

Welded the front half of the hood to the grille and decided to run it upside down, looks like a gas mask. I'm taking it to the shop to sand blast, too hot out to sand it down.
