After a long jaunt in social media I’m going old school back to forums.

Hey I’ve got a 1957 f100 I bought from dad. It’s for 223 and 3on the tree.

I plan to lower it 6” all around as traditional as possible. I have access to a CV front suspension but I don’t have the time or space for that right now with 2 under 3.

So I plan to axle flip the rear and I’m debating whether or not to flip the front leafs under the axle or remove some leaves.

I'm so glad that those square bodied Fords are becoming popular.
Oh cool it’s a bit cold there vs SoCal!
I’ve dreamed of this truck since my dad bought it when I was a kid. I finally got the opportunity to buy it in 2020. He kept getting offers annd people knocking on his door and he called me asking if I still wanted it.

It’s a cool truck I’m happy to make a near daily driver. Luckily work is about 10 mins away now

Concerning that front axle moved above the springs, the oil pan clearance would be my biggest concern. There needs to be 3" to 4" of air space between the bottom of the oil pan, and anything that may contact it, then you need to pay attention on the road surfaces. Be aware that removing too many leaf springs from each side can allow the suspension to move a lot more distance, a lot faster then a complete spring pack would do. Smashing an oil pan caused by a dip in the road taken a bit too fast, on a truck with flipped axle, or soft springs, isn't very fun. Been there, done that.

That’s good intel thank you.

I ran out of time tonight bc of babies but I’m experimenting with a leaf spring pack reshuffle. Preliminary measurements show 2” difference with where the axle sits now. So tomorrow when I do the other side I’ll hopefully have an update

Not horrible for progress. 6” out of a flip kit for ikon trucks in SoCal.

For the front end I’ve got some questions about reshuffling the leafs.

For the sake of explanation springs are 1-2-3-4-5-6 in normal configuration

If I reshuffle them to 6-5-4-2-1-3 it raised my axle about two inches but will it be a stiffer set up?

I was only able to get one side done before I had to call it a night. But I wasn’t able to remove two leaves because then the ubolts weren’t able to tighten all the way down, so I placed them in top and I noticed the axle raised.

It’s a low budget suspension drop so I can focus money on motor and interior safety stuff. Not cutting corners on safety of suspension just not spending big cash when I need seat belts and the truck to run well before anything else.

It’s about time to start a build thread I guess.
