Heavy sigh, I should redo the whole rear frame section but I'm going to plod on. I have been trying to work out my shock placement and decided I better see where the bed was going to be so I made a cardboard one. I think everything will be ok but I will have about 5" between the bedside and the frame. I'm still thinking about redoing the frame to make better use of the space for battery, fuel tank and master cylinder.

I think it's fine. You have it pretty balanced fore and aft, and the gap looks good between the tire and bed. :)

Don

Yeah, that's what I was working toward. I even stretched my wheelbase 4" to 110 so I could have a bed that balance the car. I needed it centered and 38-40 inches long. Now I am also looking at the space between the bedside and frame thinking I could use some 6x6 tubing to make my fuel tanks. If I used both sides I could come up with about 8 gallons

Not allowing for wall thickness or corner rads:
6" x 6" x 36" = 1296 cubic inches,which is 5.61 US gallons.

Well, mine could actuall be kind of L shaped and go down the side of the frame kickup. I figured a total of 6x6x26 on each side which is a little over 8 (8.167) gallons. Not as much as I'd like but I might pick up another 3-4 gallons of space somewhere.
I called the sheetmetal place and they will shear and brake my sides for $77.50 on 14 guage.
