Bought this truck to haul some scrap and planned on junking it when I was done. But I'm thinking about cutting it up for a cheap rig for a buddy. It runs/drives perfect other then it needs valve cover gaskets.

I'm thinking Z ing the frame front and rear and using all the stock drivetrain minus a few leaf springs.

Not real sure what I would do with the doghouse/front fenders.

I am on pain meds so maybe I'm just crazy. What you think about building it?

I had it on Craigslist for 2 months for $1100. I didn't get a single email or phone call. I don't think saling it is gonna happen unless it's to the scrap yard. I will get about $950 out of it as scrap.

It's almost rust free. Just a few dents.

Just had another idea. I have a 53 ford cab I could throw on it and build. Hmm

Small block in a monster like that? I'd pull the motor & trans, scrap the rest.

If the doghouse is rust free you might be able to sell that. I think they are the same as the F150s of those years.

I had bought one and ended up junking it. i kinda wish I had finished it.
I had a diesel engine from an 80's f700 and a set of axles from a f450 i was going to put the narrower f450 axle under the front and put an extended cab and pickup front clip on it and narrrow the bed a little for hauling cars.
i should have been able to get 2 small cars or a large pickup on the rear and pull a 2-car car trailer behind it.

I know they are geared pretty low

I would try to flip it first , but if not I would pull the flat bed off and shorten the frame and put a 70's dually bed on it. if you can't find a dually bed, then use a regular bed with the step side fenders. that's pretty much what they used in the 70's I bet you would sell it after that. I have seen a couple like that built and they were pretty cool. if you could find a taller rear gear that woudl help too.

Good luck to you.

Arin

It's not geared to bad now because it has a 5 spd instead of a 4spd.

I think I'm going to measure my 53 cab tomorrow and see how well it would set on the frame. If its not to bad I will put it together just to sale it at tax time.

Well I might have it traded for a big old KB to my father n law. His runs and drives also but the old flat head don't have much compression and is a pita to get to fire up. I'll post some pics if the deal goes thru.

Sealed the deal

Well my inlaws liked the idea of trading. Here is what I have now.
