I'm designing a custom dash and I would like to have chrome or polished SS edge around the opening for the instrument cluster. The opening is currently a rectangular shape with .8 inch radii on each corner.
I see plastic edge trim and adhesive backed trim advertised, but I'm not sure how good it will look.
1) Can someone recommend an edge trim, or adhesive backed product that would work well in this type of application
2) Would the product bend around the .8 inch radii or do I need to increase?
3) Is there another option you have used to make such a frame?
Thanks

You used to be able to get metal trim that was meant to go on the edge of doors but even that would have been difficult to bend so tight. I don't think the plastic stuff will do any better.... How about cutting out a trim piece from 1/8" aluminum sheet to make a border about 1/4" to 3/8" wide, polish it and stick it on with 3M tape? A bit of work, but it would look so much better than plastic.

in street rodder a couple o years ago they had an article about blank trim. it was ss and a half round (round on top, flat on the bottom) Don't remember the company that made it but you could bend it, drill and tap it etc. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback.
I'll get a sample of different trims and see how tight I can bend it. Could make the radii on the window larger to match.
The flat plate cut to make a frame on the front would be definitely work. Would have to ask a friend to machine it.
Another thought I had was to find a SS serving pan like you see in Boston Market. I could cut the bottom off and use the top lip. Not sure of dims available. This has the advantage of providing a nice radius and return inside the frame which would look good.

Willowbilly3,
I don't have the steering totally worked out yet. I don't mind havings some custom parts, but want to use as many stock parts as possible. I'll answer this on my other thread to minimize confusion.
Thanks everyone for your help.
