Been reading all the post here and figured I should throw in my .02 .
I drive by the theater in Aurora most days on my way to work. The night of the shootings my younger Daughter, 18 was working the same shift at another AMC theater just 16 miles away from the one in Aurora where the shooting occurred

I gotta say, I totally agree with what most are saying here about gun control. Myself.......guns scare the bajeazus out of me. Not counting a BB gun, I've never owned one. However, I support the NRA 100% because I believe in freedom. In case no ones noticed lately, freedom is something we as Americans are losing more and more of every day..........and it ****es me off!

Last, Mike R's thoughts about mental health have a lot of validity, and I think it will come out that the shooter is schizophrenic. In many, Schizophrenia starts in the early 20 and it's not uncommon among the uber intelligent. At 24 he was in a Neuro Science PHD program.

As far as I can see from every angle the whole deal is very sad.

You could take every gun on the planet and melt them all down, and people who want to kill people would still find a way to do it. What do we do, ban all sharp instruments, all explosives, stuff like hammers, hatchets, and anything else that could hurt someone ?

Gun laws are not the answer, because the criminals will always have them. I do agree though that SOME guns are a problem, like AK47's etc. They are only built to kill people and spray as many bullets a second as possible. They should only be allowed in the hands of the military or police IMO.

exactly. If someone wants an AK bad enough, there will ALWAYS be ways for them to acquire them. Gun laws only effect law abiding citizens.

That falls into the category of hot rods and such should be banned because they are loud, not fuel efficient and hurt the environment.

I was not intending to start a gun control debate. I was just bringing to the table how we are unaware sometimes because we often view things from one side of the fence.

On one side of the fence you have a guy that is counting on the fence stopping the bullets from coming thru. On the other side you have a guy that is counting on the bullets going thru the fence. But of course there is that guy sitting on top of the fence watching both sides and shoots them both.

No moral to the story, But if you take a side make sure no ones sitting on the fence

The explanation I've heard is it is cheaper than hiring a babysitter. The little kids simply sleep at the midnight showings.

Or make a bunch of racket so the people who did get a baby sitter can't enjoy the movie.

Up Date Colorado (more so just a rant)

Well the orange hair joker is still going through the System. No question if he did it, just the question If he is mental fit. Either way all he will get is locked up till he dies.

On the same page, a week ago some joker went in to a theater in boulder with a joker mask on to scare his friends and cleared out the theater. Now awaiting charges.

Colorado legalized MJ for recreation use. Of course the avid stoner does not realize this won’t go it to effect for 20 more days (if at all) but doesn’t stop them from be-bopping around town smoking it, walking down the streets with kids in tow. For every 1 responsible person I know there are 5 that are smoking it in their living room with their kids sitting right there.

Colorado joins in the secession. We are probably going to be the only state that is booted out of the Union

every machine gun has a title that the government keeps track of

The millitia is the primary deterrent against invading the us. like the Japanese said if we ever invade the mainland we will find a rifle behind every blade of grass.

our military might be able to knock them down a little but its the millitia that keeps them from thinking about trying

I've always felt the excuse of 'not guilty because of insanity' is nothing more than a lawyers ploy, just to get someone off the hook, so they don't have to be responsible for their actions. In my world you would be 'guilty, because of insanity'. With freedom comes responsibility, if your insane (or pretend to be)and not willing or able to be responsible for your actions, then you don't get to run around and be a threat and/or criminal to society. As it is right now, the 'insanity plea' is just being played as a get out of jail free card.

Today I swung my front door wide open and placed my Stevens 320
right in the doorway. I gave it 6 shells, and noticing that it had no legs,
even placed it in my wheelchair to help it get around. I then left it
alone and went about my business.

While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, the neighbor boy
across the street mowed the yard, a girl walked her dog down the street,
and quite a few cars stopped at the stop sign right in front of our house.

After about an hour, I checked on the gun. It was still sitting there in
the wheelchair, right where I had left it. It hadn’t rolled itself outside.
It certainly hadn’t killed anyone, even with the numerous opportunities
it had been presented to do so. In fact, it hadn’t even loaded itself.

Well you can imagine my surprise, with all the media hype about how
dangerous guns are and how they kill people. Either the media is wrong,
and it’s the misuse of guns by PEOPLE that kills people, or I'm in
possession of the laziest gun in the world.

Alright, well I’m off to check on my spoons. I hear they’re making
people fat..........
