My favorite period of customs Torchie. I never cared for skirts or tail draggers, but I love a dechromed smoothy.

I love all the different styles of customs Bama. But I am partial to certain eras. This one will fall squarely in the era before it was it was all about points and getting wild but the chop and section would still have made it radical.
Kind of like the Polynesian custom Olds.

Not a progress report unfortunately as I am still concentrating on the boat bottom, as well as dealing with household issues.
A dear friend sent me this pic of a Mopar custom.
Looks to me to be a Plymouth based on the angle of the door window frame.
Very nice though.[cl :D
Still haven't made it back to the local yard to get the rest of my treasures.
Not sure when that will be happening at this point.

That one turned out very nice.

Started stripping off the sheet metal on the Olds donor car today.

IIRC, that frame is a 2x3 box tube, or might be 2x4. Either way, it’s easy to lengthen with a couple of pieces of tubing. The round track guys used to cut them and put the tubing between the cuts to get a longer wheelbase. Dang, I cannot remember where they cut them, been too long since I seen it done. I had a Grand Prix I was going to lengthen for a 38 Chrysler I had one time, but sold it before I really had a good start on it.

Good to know, Bama. Thanks
I know way back, when we were talking about frame swaps.
The G platform kept being mentioned.
Burgerman.
All I know is that it turns over by hand. Still does as I turn it yesterday. I tried stating it last fall but the starter wouldn’t engage properly.
It’s got a GM corporate engine in so it’s just SBC.
I hope to cut more stuff off the frame this week.

good working plan torchmate! I like my donors to have parts on the shelf at every autozone and oriellys in every tiny town! [cl[cl[cl

I was hoping that this post would be about a huge leap forward on this project.......
Scanning the classifieds I came upon these 2 for sale sort of near me. (Read that as ."It's the same state, but in the Upper Peninsula."
Listed as a package, I took a chance and messaged the seller to see if they would sell just the 49 Parts car.
He responded with a "Yes".
So far, So good.:D
Further info was that the car was complete. Frame was Good. And the engine turned over.
Getting better all the time.[cl
He would sell me the parts car for $250 as he just wanted it gone.
And it comes with a clear title.
Jack pot.
Last communications was that he would double check the frame and make sure that some of the missing windshield trim was in the car. ( I'm not sure if it's a Mopar thing but I have seen a lot of these with the PS windshield trim gone.)
Well. Thats was about a week ago. It's been radio silence since. :(
Ad is still up so I guess I'm going to wait until this evening and then try one more time to make contact with the seller.
If no response I will move forward on stripping out the Olds.
I would appreciate all good thoughts in making this happen.:)
Thanks for stopping by.....
