cut a spring

i want to take center bolt out of spring and cut it completely in half so i have1/4 elipitacle spring. what is the best way to cut spring chop saw ? man it eats discs, grinder with 1/16 or 1/8 disc which is best? or is rhere anothere way thanks robertbandit[cl

I would use a chop saw. Don't use a cutting torch.

cutting it is the easy part! wait till you drill the mounting holes lol

either a sawzall or hand held metal band saw this is what i used when i cut a mobile home spring , worked good and fast

If you cut it, ( Chop saw will work fine), off to the side of the hole, (hopefully you have two springs) you can use the center bolt hole to mount your 1/4 E's.

What their saying is use as little heat as possible!!! I would go angle grinder and cutting wheel.
