Well, the power is off and the tide is rising - wish me luck.;)
Ike is less than 100 miles from my home and it looks like we will receive at least 6 feet of water in our homes. :(

Out with the old and in with the new(?).

I hope to tie in on the flip side!

Geeez, we guys in Florida know what it is like. Wish you the very best. Keep us posted, and that goes for the rest of our Texas and Texas area members too.

Does not sound like a good time. If I once, this winter, complain about the cold and snow I expect you guys to tell me to shut up and stop whining.

Keep us posted.

Waiting for GcG to come back on, maybe he didn't fare as well as the Tripper.

nothing compared to that by far but we had after-affect weather from the hurricane clear up in Ohio. we are now 16+ hours without power or water after 75+ mph winds and they aren't expecting to have it back up till at the very least saturday. try living with 5 boys, no electric, no water... and nothing to do but gaze into the abyss of emptiness. but i am very thankful we are not down south... my heart goes out to those people.

We got the winds here. Anywhere from 65-81 mph gusts, 50-60 sustained. Thank goodness we didn't get the rain originally forecast. Still nothing like what the Texas coast got. All those down there still in thoughts.

We Are Back!

Here is a link for some fantastic pictures, though quite sad.

Bonehead...

Those pictures just about say it all.:(
It was a wild time.
I live off Galveston Bay and 50% at least of the homes were flooded or totally destroyed.
My neighborhood had both flooding and trees falling on houses due to the winds. At least 50% of my neighbors have trees through their homes.
Still no power with the estimates being at least three weeks until we do.
We have water but it has to be boiled first - so without power it is of little use except the potty. Major gasoline shortages. And FEMA is slow to react. Still no sign of Red Cross. Mostly neighbors helping neighbors. For now the weather is nice, but the mosquitoes are in full bloom!.

My family made it out okay and we will rebuild. Life goes on.

Thanks for all the thoughts.:)
