The problem with defining it is, as soon as it's defined it creates a division and someone gets left out. It's just not worth it.

Can a 69 Nova be made into a ratrod? Sure, why not - maybe not in the purist sense, but maybe some kind of muscle-rat. My 48 is going to be a rat-custom. What do you wanna call yours?

Seriously, go over to the HAMB and search the term 'ratrod'. It gets really ugly - labeling at its worst.

hahaha not directed at you at all i was just voicing my opinion about what a Rat rod is, just my opinion everyone has there own. If you say your S10 is a Rat, then who am I to say its not. but in my opinion a S10 aint a rat.

K, just checkin I was feeling a little hostile vibe off of it but its cool... Nah, I've never considered my truck TO BE a rat rod... But it has "rat rod characteristics" I've been told... For instance, my headliner is a blanket... And I ride steelies w/ white walls and beauties... But I've never considered it a rat rod... Its a minitruck... The more I think about it though, minitrucks have a lot of similarities to rat rods...

I joined the site to pick up helpful info and b/c I love rat rods... I can't let all ya'lls' knowledge go w/ ya when you leave this earth... Thats just a waste of good brains...

Hate to tell you this Hillbilly4008 but the parking lot was filled with trailers last year at BilletProof in Ocala, Florida and at least one of the trophy winners was brought to the show in an inclosed trailer. We watched several "rat rods" being unloaded and couldn't beleive it! Some of the guys we know and they only live a couple of hours away yet they trailered the cars to that show as well as the Daytona Turkey Rod Run. We call the guys Posers and Power Parkers......a title well deserved. And yes they hang out with the HAMB guys and act like they drive their cars all the time.
