Ive got the basics for a 377 (destroked 400). Am curious to hear from those w experience,
I want to build a light rod w/ 5 sp manual o/d, and a 4:10 rear end.
Am envisioning a higher compression corn gas motor w/ some nice alum heads, aluminum flywheel and a tunnel ram.
Is there merrit to a short stroke, large bore motor??
I am looking for a quick revving motor thats not a pig coming out of the hole...
Thnx d/b

we have ran the hell out of them in the past, i perfer them that way and if you bore it .030" it will be a high reving 383. the last one we ran was in a street stock or was it a mod. street round track car. good luck.

Love'em, you get the advantages of the bigger bore, (torque) and the higher revs of the shorter stroke!!
Last one I had was also in a roundy round car!! It was BAD__S!!!
We ran it in a big body Chevy on Cheaters night, (could run anything you want). I lapped the field!! To this day I think it was the best pulling engine I ever ran!!
Other than that night it wasn't legal anywhere, so it kind of got forgotten!! Wish I had it now!!

400 block, 350 crank, used the 350 rods and special order flat top pistons, 461x heads, on alky in a dirt modified. Revved to 7K with LOTS of power and torque. Built a second one as a spare but never had to use it in three full seasons of 2 nights a week racing. A machine shop in Lincoln , NE made up the bearing spacers.[;)
