It seems like every other time I stop somewhere I get caught by some oddball trying to carry on a conversation with me. I don't mean the people reminiscing about how they or their Dad had a car similar, or the people genuinely interested in cars, or even the people that just think its a neat car. That's cool. I mean the loopy people - that ask about my car and then want to tell me everything about their broken sink or something. Or the lady that told me the same story 5+ times while I was getting gas. Or the guy that was dressed in all reflective gear for no reason. The lady that walked across a parking lot to talk to me then I notice she is wearing 2 sets of sandals - 2 on each foot. I mean the people that after they start talking you just want to back away from.

This doesn't happen in any other vehicle, even my 63 F100, so WTF?

Well, first of all anyone capable of doing what you've done with your Olds should be a whiz with a broken sink and folks sense that. As for the guy in the reflective gear, well the headlights on these old rides are sometimes pretty weak so he probably just wanted to make sure you see him at night. The lady with the sandals was probably just trying to protect herself from stepping on any sharp metal that may have fallen off the Olds and the lady that kept repeating herself was probably my sister in-law, she does that a lot (don't tell her I said that though)

I guess that stuff just goes with the territory.........you don't reckon they think you are "one of them" when they see ya in the Olds do ya [ddd

I attract those types without a Rat Rod so I'm probably not a good person to ask.

I always get the guys who owned a bone stock Chevy Impala in 1968 that would go 150 mph in the quarter and turn 9's. They said it must have been a factory experimental that slipped out of the factory ! All I can do when I get one of those is say "Huh !"

Maybe it's the time of day? I get off work at 1:45 in the afternoon, so maybe it's just the time more jobless are out wandering around. One was at the DMV, one at the gas station, one at Home Depot, and one picking up Chinese take out. I never get it in my truck though.

There is an over abundance of Loopy people out there..... it used to be only when the moon was full.....now it's all the time.... People are just whack!!

It is not just you, I have a few that come running when they see my truck. One guy, ( I think it is a guy), wants to buy my truck, and put it back to stock. Restore it like it should have been done. The only problem is this person has no money, no job, no tools, etc. Another guy starts in when I see him telling me the stats on my car, which are all wrong. I just have to correct him, as he tells me all about my truck.

Having been a disc jockey for 20 years I think I have had a phone call from every one of "them" and all of their relations. When the loonies start talking to me I just go with the flow and have fun with it. It can be entertaining.
