Well I got a pretty good deal on a doner vehicle. its a 67 Ford truck with a good running 390 and a C-6 auto. started pulling it yesterday, and moved my truck up to a friends house to use his bridge crane to swap the motor and trans. I will have photos tonight.

any body want to buy a good 67 ford bump side minus engine and trans? LOL

Those parts should make a great start!
I built a midly "warmed-up" 390 in the past and am currently running another in my '55 F100. They are great engines- very torquey! They are not as cheap to get aftermarket parts for as the Ford smallblocks, but they seem to perform pretty well right out of the box. With an intake and a four barrel you should be pretty happy.
Also you're lucky you got the C6- mine has the FMX transmission and I am still looking to upgrade it to a C6 someday.

That 9 rear axle will pretty much swap right into a '53-'56 F series truck. You shouldn't have much trouble selling it to someone building one. I just bought one for around $200.
