heres my take, i work on a lot of cars i worked on a few of these and they are built like the devil. i will give you that they are better on gas and handling. in no way are they faster. the new mustangs may be faster than a old stock mustang. but nobody left there old muscle car stock they built the hell out of it. the old muscle cars where built out of steel not tin foil and plastic ( partly why slower stock ) and suspensions and brakes may be better now but for a lot less then the cost of these new cars. i can upgrade the suspension, brakes, interior and motor and transmission on 2 or 3 old muscle cars. then i have a muscle car that handles and performes as good or better then the new ones. and its the real deal, not a new camaro trying to look like a classic. also if the new cars are better then the old why are they copying the classics so much. the old classics where easy to work on. the new cars with computers, sensors and all the other crap, you wont be fixing much on them on the side of the road but a tire. anything else youll need a wrecker to haul it to the dealership so they can hook a computer up to it to find the trouble. i have replaced floats in a carb on the side of the road or a coil even a distributor. boom back on the road the classics where simple and easy to maintain. now im not going to knock anybody for buying a new one. hell enjoy it but also dont knock the old stuff its been around a lot longer and i expect it will be around a lot longer yet we will see in 40 50 or 60 years where the new one are. see if they can stand stand the test of time then they may to become legends. thats just my thoughts on the topic thanks guys.

My final views ...
Pre 70s cars will NEVER be replaced in the department of being Rimless. The styling and performance were parts of the puzzle. The fact that the people building them and designing them were caring and passionate about they're work makes them what they are. The history that the cars share makes them what they are. New cars may get higher MPG, better emmisions, higher power, more comfy etc...... but they are without soul. They are empty in the heart. I have been and still am into.new cars but they ain't the same. There something special about having a mechanically simple machine surviving the test of time among these new cars that will be junk in a few years. I see more new cars with blown headlights and ticking engines then I should. How many times does some one find a car hat sits for 10 or 20 years and fires up with fresh fuel. The headlights still work, those cars are really something.

When people compare the times between the old cars and the new ones, they forget one important thing. The old cars ran those times on funky 60's tires, that's not a real fair comparison. I'd like to see a new Mustang or Camero's times on those old bias ply tires! [ddd
