Ok... I'm meeting with the garage guy in a couple of daze & I have always wanted an elec hoist on a steel beam or similar setup for pulling engine/tranny's, body's etc. Anyone have one or any advice?!
I had a BUGET electric hoist and was great!
Mine not only went up and down but had
a left and right which is better than pulling by
hand! They are supposed to be one of the best lifts
out there!
Sold it cause it took up too much room with gantry compared
to cherry picker !
i have 2 hf hoists. the 1 does stupid human tricks for me( work stuff, loading a car on trailers, unloading stuff), the other just lifts motors and what not.
We have a four legged gantry that Dan built for me after I hurt my arm lifting a body. It has been invaluable for lifting everything from bodies, to engines, to frames, and lots more. I mounted two HF 440 pound electric hoists on it and that way we can tilt bodies and other stuff as needed.
Here it is lifting our 300# frame jig and Dan's about 400# frame, so we can flip it over to weld the other sides. We even used it to lift my 46 Tudor sedan body and frame off of the trailer when it was delivered. Couldn't ever imagine not having one now.
In my old garage I had a 28 foot long I-beam with a roller and manual chain hoist and loved it. Now I have the same hoist just hanging in one location and its okay, just not as handy as being able to move around. I tried an electric hoist once and thought it was to jerky, it moved up and down to quick for me.
I have a manual one I use for lifting bodies and frame and moving them around. My 34 ford and my buddy's 35 chevy coupe. Also used it to load a body on a rotisserie.
