I would move the air bags on top of the axle and remove that lift bar mess.
there is plenty of room inside of the frame at the notch to add mounts.

less weight, same travel.

thanks for your suggestion, I thought about moving the bags there, which is still may do, however the canti-lever setup I'm currently running takes less air to get the car off the ground, and is also supposed to provide better ride quality, the lift happens at the fulcrum of the lever instead of the extent of it's limit, (I think I said that correct, it's been 10+ years physics class). I agree it will be less weight, but there is more travel for the CL setup, not necessarily as far as dropping it, but there is more vertical movement, Not that I'm ever going to need to get the car that high in the rear.... I hope.

Thanks for the input and getting me thinking, that way I make sure I know why I'm going with what I am using.

Moving Forward

So... I got some work done this weekend [cl

I cleaned off some frame mounts that were in the way.

So I used a combination of some metal framing and 4x4 post and my air ride frame and an engine hoist, but was able to successfully raise the body off the frame and get it transplanted... [cl

Borrowed some help from my dad, we make a great team!

Down down... to the ground

I got the body down low... a lil too low actually, so i raised back up to set my channel height to where I can lay frame with the body approximately 1/2" off the ground, so just in case I have a line fail, or something else crazy happen I won't rip off my fenders or running boards... I found favor in the Lord when I came across some dump truck sides that were 3/16" rolled steel side stakes, approximately 10-12" wide, the perfect running board, no flex there, (yeah, it will be heavy, but I don't have to worry about breaking or warping them, and the best part was they were FREE!!!!!!!!

I had some questions about the power-plant for the Chevy.... so I snapped a quick photo.... TPI from an impala... hopefully will get it test fitted before the year is over with and see what I'm up against.... [cl

Welded in the rear support bar for the body!

When i used the bags to raise the rear, the backseat uprights folded,so I went to plan 'B' used a jack from inside the trunk to jack up the rear of the car, then tacked the support bar in place and was able to get it close to where I was wanting it. Next is taking about 5-6" out of the middle of the car, to shorten the body to math the wheel base, since I'm going coupe this should work out nicely, not to mention the rocker metal between passenger door and rear fender is VERY rotten, so this will kill off a couple problems of infestation.

After I get her shortened I'm thinking next will be the chop... probably 4" off the top!

Shorten and Chop

It looks like the sedan is going to need 5.5 - 6 inches out of it's center in order to get the wheels were I want them in the fender wells, preferably centered.

Obviously things would looks silly with two lil doors, or maybe like and old school RX-8???? Anyway... those two have to go, to it will be a 2 door sedan with straight pillars or with slanted pillars

Here it is with the rear hump moved forward, but I think it probably needs to be flattened a little... maybe it's too round?
