WOW... thanks for reactivatin' this thread. This is my fav so far & my other favs are the ones with blowers off the fronts (whatever they're called)... they ROCK!!!

Right, Gastrick. Crosley made two types of engines, fabricated blocks, which
were furnace brazed together out of tubes and sheet metal, and later
cast iron blocks.
The furnace brazed blocks were light, about 15 pounds and the engine about
60 lbs. With all accessories and flywheel, about 130 lbs.
They made mirror immage engines, the one in the photo has two joined
with a mutual crankcase.
They worked well at steady rpm applications, not so well in an auto,
which is why they went to the cast block eventually.
But they were strong, Mr. Crosley filled one of the fabricated blocks with
water and froze it. It did not crack or split the block.
