Petty Enterprises merged with Gillete/Evernham Racing but will supposedly have some way of keeping Richard Petty in the mix. The Petty shops will close as the new team will use GEM's shops. In my mind this ends the team started 60 yrs ago by Lee Petty. A sad time in racing history for sure !

Well, what can you say. He had a good run. I always wanted to see him win one more race but seems like he just didn't have it after the 200th. Kyle is a great guy but just never had the same talent as Lee and Richard, then they lost Adam. We were hugley blessed to have them in the sport.

I agree, Kyle just never had it. If Adam had never died I believe he woulda been a champion. Seems like after Adams death the wind in the sails kinda left. Too bad, I've always been a huge Petty fan. I even painted my daily driver like ol Richards. Long live the King!

Hey found the pics,before and after. 66 Fury w/wide block 318. Did paint and lettering myself. Sold the car to a even bigger Petty fan than myself.

Didja know Richard tried drag racing? Wiped out, killed some one and buried the car out back. Maybe killed more than one person, I can't remember now, it was around 64-65 I think.

Petty and GEM agreed to a deal yesterday, finalize it by end of month. will run 3 cars full time so the pettys are still in it
