For a year and a half i had a job roadtesting Jaguars here in AZ. We would be coming back down to the valley from Flagstaff and see the glow in the sky which was Phoenix. I liked to get on the radio and say "good, they left the light on for us"

What is funny is that line that is running vertically down through the middle of America, on the east side it is all lights and then on the west side it is a lot darker.

Yes. The bulk of Canada's eastern population hugs the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence seaway, which makes sense for trade purposes and explains the concentrated "growth" if you will. (Oh, and the major breweries are there, too).

The rest of us stick close to the border 'cuz we're trying to keep warm.

Our population density rates among the lowest in the world. The state of California hosts a larger population than our entire country.

Yep, that is us, half way between Denver and Salt Lake City.
My cannon is air powered and dosn't make much light.

The brightness is probably my personality.

I believe that is the different types of street lights.

Orange / red tones - High Pressure Sodium lights
Blue / white tones - Mercury Vapor or Metal Halide lights
Red in Nevada - Can't go there - G rated site
