I found this froum looking for info on wide 5 hubs to straight axle Fords---36 Ford sedan. Seems the thread just ended without an answer, or maybe just my question?? Anyway, I am searching for a way to add Wilwood wide 5 hubs to my 36 ford front axle---or I can change axles if needed. I see Coleman makes a snout for Impalas, but I don't know how that would work on my car. Winters and a few more make snouts and spindles, but nobody that I have talked to know what would fit. Thanks for any suggestions. Does anybody make the 4 bolt snout any more?

One of the old dirt track guys told me they used to weld 3/4 ton, or 1 ton spindles onto his old Ford dirt track racer to run the wide 5 wheels. Cut the original spindle off, weld on the truck spindle. Maybe you need to weld on the Impala snout instead of the truck snout?

I have never done it, never ran beam axles, and that old guy isn't around any more.
Thought maybe it may provide another question to where you were seeking answers before.

Did you contact Wilwood? They are still in business.

Hello and Welcome to Ratrods Rule, from northern Alberta.
I have a '36 Ford car in my future too, so will be watching your progress with interest. I was thinking of just putting a whole different front end under mine. I have a '36 Ford truck finished and it worked nicely to set the whole thing on a Ranger running gear.
Good Luck.

Gene49, I guess that I should get an Impala spindle and measure it. Maybe I could get a machine shop to turn my 36 to the same size and then use the Coleman snout. I will call Wilwood today and see what they say, Thanks!

I got an e mail back from Wilwood. They said to call Coleman because they may be able to make a snout for my spindles. I will give that a try. They didn't know anybody that makes scratch built spindles for a '36.

Coleman said that they didn't make anything like what I needed. They make a snout for the Impala spindles, but didn't know if it would fit the '36 spindles---does anybody know if I can modify the '36 for the wide 5 snout to fit?
