Went to another yard last weekend. Looks like i'll be bringing home a '32 plymouth sedan real soon. The yard sits on 32acres.

As im walking through i asked if he has any 50s V8s. He says "sure do! I've got two 392 hemis, and about 30-40 of the smaller ones" He's lookin to get $1500 a piece for the 392s. He has a Desoto with a hemi in it, take the whole car for $750.

Asked if the has any 409s. None, but he has a couple 348s. Has a bunch of caddys with v8s.

One could only imagine how many Y-blocks or rockets he has. Flatheads galour.

Its ashame, another guy who says he is gonna crush it all when scrap prices go back up. Thats the 3rd guy this year to tell me that.

1500 bucks for a complete 392 Chrysler is a good deal. You could buy, and resell those and make a few bucks if you were not going to use them. I'd verify the numbers first to make sure that they are 392's. Sounds like you found a gold mine.

I'd score those 348's too... they're gettin' harder & harder to find & are basically the same externally as a 409 & can be bored out to that displacement too. I'd buy 1 in a heartbeat!!!

Hopefully the price will stay down for quite a while & you & some of u're buds can come to the rescue!!!

You would have to bore a 348 .200 and get the 409 crank to make it a 409.
