Found in a field a barn or ?

My latest find's are pretty uncommon,in fact just plain rare!
My day started with a phone call from a good friend,
early Friday morn.3-26-10
He said he was calling me to tell me about 2 Model A's he knew about.
After getting the # from him,I called it.An elderly lady answerd,
I asked if she had model a part's for sale, she said I'd have to talk to her husband.
Her husband answerd, I asked again about some model a part's.
He said he didn't have any model a parts for sale but,
had 2 model a cars for sale!!I was alittle suprised to say the least.
I then asked what he wanted for them,his answer....500 each !!!
I knew this was a score, as just about any model a shell was worth 500 buck's
& he said he had 2 cars !
So I got his address.
My daughter & I jumped in the truck & headed to his place.
Upon arriving we were greeted by an elderly man & led to his back yard.
I was shocked! it was incredible!Right there in front of me I see a 28 Roadster Pickup!!!
Yes that's right a real 28 roadster pickup,& right behind it a 30 model a coupe !!!!
Yep both of these cars same place,same asking price 500 each!
I only had 800.00 Needless to say we made the deal,
so I paid him,& me & Emily flew back to the shop
& picked up the trailer & headed back to get our new iron.
He was pretty helpful, with all the rain we've been having,
if I would have tried to go in his field I would have got stuck for sure,
& there was NO WAY I was leaving these car's sit another day,
so he kindly fired up his old John Deere & pulled them out to the road for us!
Talk about Cool!! I was relieved for sure as I cant stand for a deal like this not to be at my shop ASAP!
Well to sum it up I now have added to my collection these 2 car's.
My daughter Emily is already claiming the 28 as her's for helping me load the car's,
smart 13 yr old kid !
Both are complete & original, needing total resto's,but they are decent & complete.
The 30 coupe is alittle ruff so it maybe a rat or ?
The 28 is pretty sweet! I'm in the red shirt,my friend Jim is the old school guy
& by the way,these car's were able to be seen from the road....
if you only looked alittle bit!!
& they were in my county not far from my shop!
so keep your eye's open & dont think for a moment it cant happen for you
cause it can!!!!
just keep on looking.... & tell us what you find!

I am a car guy/car hunter & love this hobby/lifestyle,it's how I earn my living
& how I enjoy my free time ?This score is truly one of the best in my career.
You can just imagine my thought's on the way there,is there a coupe? is there a 2dr sedan? a truck ? What kinda shape ?
I had to keep my kool & I hoped for something good.
I didn't even think of a roadster PKup & when I walked into the back yard, I kinda looked at it like what the heck is it?
You know my mind was racing 100 mph! lol
My reason for that was because 2 week's before this find, I had got a call from another friend,
telling me he may have found me a 32 roadster PKup for 2400.00,
turned out to be a cobled up hunk of home made junk,
so when I seen the 28 I though huh?
I looked at the body real quick,giving everything a once over as I walked toward's it,
top bow's all the other stuff that a real Model A would have etc etc
& realized this was a real one by the time I walked up to it,
I had to walk & keep my kool,lol....
what's kinda funny,I was numb, I didn't pay the coupe much attention for a bit,????
sad I know,
I was just freaked out by the li'l 28 Roadster pkup.

I had only recently told the friend that called me to keep his eye's open for old tin,
he & his family have lived in our area ALL their life,
my friend is 50,so he know's everyone.
If your looking for some old iron,
tell everyone you know,what you want!
You'll be VERY suprised what old car's & truck's, regular every day people know about!
Put The Word Out! & you too will get that call one day!

Being your a preacher, you know about sowing & reaping,
on thursday 3-25-10 I had "planted some good seed" & on Friday 3-26-10 I scored the A's !

lol, I didn't think of that,the kid's.
I see spanky & alfalfa sitting in it practicing.
I have started a little clean up on the coupe,
I'm waiting for a new Howell's catalog to really get going on them.
I've done alittle blasting on part's of the coupe,
it's turning out better than I thought it would,
I may need a partial driver side rear qtr panel....anybody got one?

Thank God my wife & kid's dig the car scene,or I'd really be in trouble!
I agree with ya you will find that coupe one day soon I hope !
Just PUT OUT THE WORD what your looking for,tell anyone, ask anyone,
ask old farmer's if any of their friend's have an old car or truck.
You'll be amazed what you'll find,& don't think so & so don't know of anything cause they may be your score!

Ooooohhh yeah!
That's where this coupe's headed!
I've got a dropped front axle,
or a mustang 2 if I decide to go with the fender's,
I have a straight 6, a 351w a 350 chevy,a flathead V8 & I have a very rare, MONSTER flathead Ford V8 337 ci ,came out of a 47,48,49, F7 or F8 truck.
I'm really thinking hard about what I make of this car.
I'm not going for a magazine cover,I just want to build it right.

And last,
the picture in this reply is of me & the gentleman that sold me the car's,
his name is Henry,he & his wife Carol are some beautiful people,
it was a pleasure to just visit with them.

Let me know if I can help any of ya out,I'm alway's finding new stuff.
I can't buy everything,& will turn thing's on to other's....

The 47 COE I bought in Feb 2010
My daughter Emily took the pic of herself with time delay on my camera.
We call the COE Big Red,it's totally complete with the original flatty & all.
I watched this truck sit in a field by my home for about 16 yrs.
In feb of this year I was finally able to catch the man at home & bought it on the spot,
he even loaded it on his goose neck trailer & deliverd it to my shop for me.
I really dig this truck,Big Red, I dont believe it will leave my families collection,
same for the li'l 28 Roadster pk up,
my wife & kid's are really into the car scene with me.
I dont have to ask if anyone want's to set up at a swap meet they all do!
& when I ask who want's to go to the drag strip,they all go!

We are definately a car family.
