Yep, cheap,easy, fun to drive-within it's limits- attention getting.
Cost to fun balance would be well to the plus side. I would have a teepee stinger exhaust on the motor.

Eman, ya brought back some old memories. I had a TeePee on my buggy! It had a cone shaped trumpet instead of the stinger, but it was the header that looked cool.

Depends on what you mean by "hood" on a VW. It's the rear pivoted up.
