thanx bonehead it is starting to take over my life I cannot stop thinking of what I want to do with it and my family just shake their heads, I have to wait until I get my falcon back on the road and then between working on my wifey's bike and my bike I am going to get right into this build.
I will be looking at getting a doner rig and ideas?

I did not build the frame, I did modify it heavily!! It's z'd 4 inches in front, and 13 in the rear!! I wouldn't recommend what I used, I did because it's what I had! It's actually an old T-Bucket kit frame!
If I built another I would use 2x4 box and build the entire frame from scratch!!
I'm sure you can get a good result from using your existing frame if you pay close attention to detail!!
What type front end setup do you plan on using?

It's a 40 ford, with split bones, spring behind set up!!
Pretty common really!! Only thing done a little different than most is, my arms are mounted upside down which brings the rear mounting points up in the rear and still get 6 to 6 1/2 degrees caster!!

Haven't seen that much caster since...

the old long front end 73 to 77 Monte Carlos, Montegos and such...they all ran 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 caster....that thing must drive straight as an arrow.....!!

rainman do you have some pics of your front end I would be interested in checking it out.
This might sound stupid but why do so many of you rat builders z the frames and can you get a good look by not z the frame?

Welcome aboard!

Hey 46'
I have a couple of suggestions for front ends if you want to use independent suspension. I use "K" member set-ups from Mopar K cars for later trucks (53'-65'). I am not sure the track will be right but you can check it. When I do 48'-54' GM rigs I use 74'-76' AMC Pacer front ends. As with the "K" member it just unbolts, crossmember and all. Again check the track. Aside from getting independent suspension you get disc brakes and power steering with both set-ups. As far as the rear "Z" deal goes you could take an idea from the lowrider guys an "C" notch the frame for axle housing clearance and not have to "Z" it. Just some ideas to look at. Have fun and keep us posted on your progress. Steve
