i thought about using the grille for a while, but decided it would look better in the bubble top i wanna build later along with these imperial headlights canted on 45 degree angles on each side of the grille.

so i'm just using a stock t shell on this one.

tear drop

well no updates on the bucket till sunday, but to keep you guys busy here are some teardrop build pics as promised.

the shell is .30 aluminum bent in my brake. did the criss cross patern with my bead roller, tipping die on top and a skate board wheel on the bottom. trimmed in 3/4 angle aluminum shaped in the shrinker/ stretchers.

and a few more, most of the wood structure is drilled for lightness and the bending plywood(all grains run the same way), is 1/4 inch thick.

That Tear Drop is TOO COOL!!!!! I plan to build one to tow behind the Dodge when I am all done. Mine won't be near as fancy but it will be fun to have.

Looks like you are pretty dang handy with that bead roller!

a few little boring updates. cut out and bead rolled the dash using some old desoto gauges i had.

also using the desoto rear end and front spindles, due to the fact that all the brake components were new and i got it all for nuthin. FREEBIE'S!

got the sand blasting done on the frame, and found a date welded into it. welded up all the holes i wont be using smoothed it out, then made up some tail light mounts and fab'd up a brake mount off the rear spring perch.
and then painted it gloss black and added some cream perimeter pinstripes.

Our 3rd Annual Fall Foliage Gathering is Oct. 26-28th. You can get all info in the MoWV section of TearJerkers. We have 18 spots reserved and usually have 20-25 campers come and like to extend an invite. We have quite a few from Ohio coming too and we'll have some Rods too. a few little updates, made some homemade wishbone mounts, a buddy of mine has some original mister roadster mounts so i drove out and snap some pics and measured his, his are made of cast aluminum mine are steel but close.

also made an air damn for the grille shell and mocked it up with the radiator. waitn on a bunch of speedway parts, then she'll be a true roller.


I havent decided if i'm guna leave it channeled 3 inches, or cut the bottom of the cowl and re 90* it.

Give me some input, guys

took the 350 chevy motor into the shop and ripped her apart, doing a light rebuild with a new crank kit, hone job, mill job on the heads and a thumper cam. will post some pics when she's all purdy.

Seems a shame to cover the mounts and pin striping on the frame but then I think the frame is riding kinda high so a channel will make it sit right. Unless you are going for a more 70's theme then don't channel it. Just my $.02 [P

hey guys, sorry for the delay, had to get over to the coast to help some friends out of that storm.... damn WHAT A MESS! left my generator there figured someone needs its more than i do right now...

anyway hers some pics of the progress so far on the bucket.

not alot of step by step but still getting it done.

backing plates done on the front, yeah! made some vents out of hammered steel and tigged 'em in. after drilling several cooling holes.

next on to the windshield. and tank brackets.

decided to make my own windshield santions, and frame. made the base first, then welded a piece of one inch and heat bent it to the contour i wanted. next the c channel for the glass.

for the c channel i took some 3/8s inch aluminum c from lowes, and hand bent it in a vise to match the cowl.
this stuff bends super easy, but if you dont get it warm with your hand first it will crack.
i didnt know how it was gunna work out since this was my first attempt. but it went really well just bent it a little at a time and kept checking the fit as i went.

i laid a piece accross the top to get a reference on chop height, this is an 8 inch glass. i think i'm guna up it to 12 inch as its way below eye line now when your in the seat.

next i will switch my tig over and weld it on 45 angels at the bottom and weld a pivot point on each side, then mock up some carboard for the piece of glass i'll need. more to come on that.
