Does anyone have any stories about cars taking on bizarre behavior like "Christine". Like everyone's heard about the one car playing music even with the battery and keys out of the car completely.

Here's Mine:
My wife has a 2008 Grand Prix. In July our little problem started, The car has those computerized valve stems for the tires. Every couple of weeks the car can't figure out which wheel is which. The dealer has changed the main computer and all the wheel computers and the damn thing still does it. And the dealer has no idea. I've told the Dealer that I can fix it with a BFH!

Let's hear about yours.............

I worked at a detail shop for a while pressure washing motor compartments.
I would pull the cap off and blow the water out with a air gun before trying to start the motor. Dryed the cap out but layed it halfway off to the side of the dis and forgot about it. When i came back and tried to start the car it actually started but idled rough. I checked under the hood to see what was
wrong and the cap is still laying there halfway off the dist

i traded for a 66 ford truck when i was in high school, it didn't run well-and we couldn't make it run any better.......complete engine/trans swap (240-I6 to a 390 v8)didn't seem to fix it either--the old truck was red, and the joke was made that the thing seemed possessed---the name on my 66 ford truck to this day..."Christine"

I had a '67 Chevy that I put a 396 into with all new wires ,plugs , carb and manifold - it ran just great for about two weeks - then it started running like crap - popped the hood to find two spark plug wires off, which was kind of hard to do, cause I had them in rubber gromlets through the wire seperators - well, I put them back in place and it ran fine - problem solved. About two weeks later while going to work ,stopped at a light , and it started running like crap - popped the hood, same two wires are off of the plugs again - this went on for about a month - got new wires, different wire looms - problem solved. About three days later it started all over again - but this time the same wires were out at the dist. and two days later - the it started running like crap - I was so PO'ed that I sprung the hood springs when I opened the hood only to find that the two spark plugs were broken off - No reason - No ryhme and it never happened again.

When I was younger, my dad had a 1970 Chevy station wagon that would start all by itself with nobody anywhere near it. You would be in the house and hear it start itself out in the driveway......very strange. Nobody could ever find a wiring or any other problem with it. It eventually caught itself on fire and burnt.

Never had a possessed car but did own a boat one time that seemed to have some strangeness going on. It was a 27 ft Chris Craft cabin cruiser that we found on the back row at a marina........needed total rebuild. The previous owner had used it as a commercial boat and lost his butt financially and had to go bankrupt. So it sat on land until we bought it.

My Sons were about 12 at the time and we worked on it for 14 months redoing everything.........Imroned it, redid the cabin, wiring, steering, and installed a new Chevy crate motor. During the whole time we were working on it I would get ulsers on my tongue every time we got on board to work on it. I figured there was some mold from sitting so we cloroxed the entire boat, still didn't work.

The day we launched it we were taking it home via water from Cape Canaveral to Daytona and the blower hose got caught in the prop shaft and took out the transmission rear seal...........had to have it rebuilt. Then we ran aground 3 times in one year and had to have it hauled out of the water each time so we could fix the bent prop shaft.

Even when it was running right dumb stuff happened, like getting fishing hooks imbedded in us a bunch of times......glad my ex was a Nurse.:) Last straw was that I lost my job and had to sell it. But first I moved it from Daytona to DeLand Florida and on the way I ran aground in Jacksonville, left the boat at a marina there and we took a Greyhound bus home. Never went back for 6 months as I was up to here with that boat.

Finally, we did go back, fixed the shaft and rudder and finished the trip to DeLand, where I promptly sold the boat. A couple of weeks later I spoke to the broker who sold it for me and he said "Oh, by the way, the new owner was using the boat and a rod came out of the side of the engine!"

I often wonder if it is still around or if someone finally got smart and sank it.:D

This car is the same way. One day 2 years ago they heard the radio come on, it never worked before. Then it tried to start itself and they smelt smoke. If they hadn't been there it would be more than the dash that went up.

My old 78 F100 hot rod was kinda funny turned... It had a personality all it's own... talk good to it, pat it on the dash, and that truck would run great... I use to beat up on the mustangs and camaros with it.... but say the first thing negative, and it would break something... usually the transmission, but always something.... nevered failed....

Let's see.. 2 engines, 12 transmissions, 3 rearends.... and the rear ps shock mount... too many of them to count....

Crazy/weird how some vehicles have a personality about them....

Not nearly as old or as interesting... had a old Jetta right outta college, the radio stopped working one day, didnt work for about 8 months then one day came back on again. I was waiting to smell smoke and grab the marshmellows but it never went up. I wasnt so worried when the radio went out, more so when it came back on scared the crap outta me.
