Thanks guys!I am happy with them exept that one side is closer to the body than the other!I might mess with it and fix that ,then I might not,it IS a rat rod right?
They took about 10 hours total!
I rolled the megaphones and then the header tubes are cut from an old set of BBS headers I had laying around.
The ends of the headers,I welded a set of supertrap mufflers!

Looks good. Is there a kit for a set like that. Im wanting to find a set for a 35 ford truck but all the ones I find hit the cab at the cowl(too short coming off of the head). I think the truck cab is wider than a car body.

Hijack over, back to your regulary scheduled rat roddin;)

That's some nice work on those headers. Hey, if your happy with them, leave 'em as is. I mean, no ones gonna break out a ruler & measure :p:p:p

Nice Job..

Nice job on the headers, they look great.
Nice looking car, by the way... '22

Great looking set of pipes. Very professional looking.

Timbo, I believe Speedway makes a kit you weld yourself. However, you may have to extend the tubes coming off of the header flange to clear the body. Also try www.lakeheaders.com

Thanks everyone for the nice comments! I still will have to massage one or the other to even them out a bit more so they don't look so cockeyed! You can't see the difference in the pics but to the eye standing by the car you CAN! Part of the problem was that I made the first main piece that welds to the megaphone in identical pairs and forgot that the pass. side sets back a whole exhaust opening ferther! (at least thats my excuse)
OH by the way chopper Tom I believe the steering box is from a 40 Ford car and I put a 32 Ford pitman arm on it!
And...Timbo, yes Speedway makes a kit for around $180.

They look very nice! I built some too but mine look like crap compared to yours... I built everything, the flanges, and the megaphone part as well. That was the easy part. I learned how not to do it, next time I have a better idea.

Start

Finish

I guess not bad for a welder that just would not cooperate, and scrap metal...

just a tip, next time spend more time grinding off the rust where you will be welding. also was the bigger tube galvanized? if so yo uneed more heat (and ventilation) to burn off the Zinc.

I think they look great even if there not purfect ,any one can buy a kit ,thats why i love to see home made stuff .if everyone just buys stuff instead of making it ,we'll never see new and inventive ways of doing things .thats why the rats apeall is so strong to me ,i've never got much money and it foces me to make stuff and some times go into unexsplored areas in order to acomplish some thing that i ussually would be unable to do or have .
Any ways ,take more pride in your work man ! no one says they have to be purfect.

Great job on the headers MR.G Tell us, what did the air cleaner/scoop

Thanks clipper,
The scoop started out many many years ago in a land far far away...............
OK just kididding! It USED to be an Allis-Chalmers gas tank.I cut it in half and turned it on its side, rolled some tubes, cut some holes, made some flaps and a base plate with a filter inside and POOOOOF! a robot looking air scoop!
