I know we've talked about naming cars and a lot of you do. Since I've never felt the inclination to name any of mine, I don't quite get it. So you who name cars, do you also name other inanimate objects? Is your refrigerator Ralph or your garden hose Gary? This might be kinda handy so you could just tell the little woman "go fetch Larry (the lawn mower) and get this grass cut".
I did know a guy in Alaska who did this.

Oh, and I have actually been thinking my 56 Caddy might need a name like they did in the 50s, but then it feels kinda silly whenever I try to come up with something. I guess if it (not she) needs a name, it can earn a good one.

name

always named my vehicles, helps keep them more like family and just a thing,,,,,,,if you listen csrefully they talk to you and every rod has a different story and personality. seems weird but l have learned if you treat them nice and talk to them like a person and not a object they run better.

Later

I usually have names for vehicles but they all seem to be the same and have a direct connection to an untimely malfunction of some kind.

When every thing is running right it's just the '47, the '48, the jeep, the flat bed, the van, the motorhome, the four wheeler, the skid steer, the golf cart
and that damn dog of my wifes.

Haha, I get that. One of my exgirlfriends called my 69 Ford crew cab Loosey for obvious reasons.
I just have The Hot Rod, the Aerostar, The Powerstroke, the panel truck. Seems like enough identification.

I call my Lincoln "Big Girl", cause she's a lot like a fat gal, lots of curves and a few bumps, temperamental at times, she's fun to ride around and I like to handle her. [ddd

Other than that, everthing else is just, black truck, Expy {short for Expedition}, the Vette, the Farmall {farm tractor or the ProStar semi} or the lawnmower.

It probably started back when Model T's were called tin Lizzie's [or lezzy's [ddd]] and got shortened to just Lizzy.

Hmmm, I refer to mine only on this forum by the "Nuttin Special", otherwise, it's the 31. It's built so simple and easy to access that it looks like I didn't extend much effort to get it going. All the miles I've put on it so far have been really trouble free. That is the one thing most important on my mind when I wanted to build a truck. I love it, even when it's cold and not been started today, I can goose the throttle lever before I get in and lean in, turn the key and the motor cranks right up. Check the fluids is about all I have to do to keep it up. I started by tuning by the books and that has changed so many times by tuning it better by ear, that that's all I do now. And I trust it to do what I want. Without building one to race, it's still very quick and satisfying to me when I lean a little on the skinny pedal. Every once in a while, one of my machines might offer reason to naming it but not very often.

i called my willys jeep the crack ho for the following reasons
made horrible noises at the worst moment for no discernable reason
acted like the world was ending and 2 minutes later all was sweetness and light
demanded all my money and still wasnt satisfied
erratic behavior 24-7

i like naming stuff
its fun
the slug
the love weasel
the shaggin waggin
but the ram cummins 01 i bought from pops is simply used as a tool (and a darn good one)
so it is the 3500

hmm
the dodge coupe is "El Coupe-o''

my little green PU i call either the green scream or T2 ( as in the Thunderbirds -- Thunderbird 2) this is dependant on wether its out for a trip to fix stuff for freinds,, or picking up stuff or how i feel at the time

my toyota is not lovingly known as "the heap of sh*t' realy because of my dislike of the ever faithfull and difficult to work on modern cars --unlike real cars
:D

I have named my 97 f-150 (two feet) it takes two feet to start it , also two feet to keep it running at a stop sign or a red light. I'll get that figured out one day . all the other is the vette , the 64 , the dodge , the 1 ton . the car , .. nothing special ever sticks to my junk .

Some how my wife's yellow MG Midget got named Buttercup. I think I named it, but don't remember why. Anyhow, it's the only vehicle I ever named.

So what kind of love is the love boat? The brotherly love, or like you love your gramma, or the making love kind so more of a sex boat? Inquiring minds want to know.
