:confused:I am ready for brakes, I have 46 ford spindles and backing plates, 10" buick drums. Here is the problem. I've heard you can use mid 50's Ford pickup brakes, but I'm not sure.
Our local parts houses are not much help, when they ask what the brakes are going on, I tell them and it sounds like a Johnny Cash song. They look at me and then the computer and then back at me with a deer in the headlights look.
Do any of you have experience with this sort of brake match up.
Here are the drums I have already drilled for 5 on 5 1/2 and machined the lip off so it fits properly.

Rustrod, are you sure that those are 10 inch drums? If they are, then they are rear drums and you can not use them on the front. Buick drums should have a 5 on 5 pattern also. You will need 12 inch drums for that. Do you also have the Ford hubs?

Yeah, you've got some specs messed up there somewhere along the line. You need 12 inch drums like Gastrick said, and you need the Ford hubs that mounted on the outside of the Ford drums originally, not inside them.

Sorry they are 12" drums and yes I have the hubs, I have already drilled and machined the drums to mount the drum and hub on the spindel.

Ok, now we're on the same page. I've never played with F100 brakes, but I think they are 11 inch(?) and the Fords are 12 inch. Could be wrong on that. But, I do know about using 40-48 Ford brakes with Buick drums. I have two cars with them myself.

Makes a nice swap. I think Gastrick did his recently too.
