That is not a VW thing. Look at the shape of the front fenders and the shape of the rear.

That Thing is a Kubelwagon replica made of fiberglass. Still probably worth $5-6k fixed up. Owner says it runs and drives very good. The Alpha Ramero also has a folks engine right behind the seat, and also runs. And is a replica, but still cool as hell.
