How much power are you guys running on your builds, and even an estimate is fine because i dont think most of us have a dyno handy.....

I'd like to get my lincoln running about 300 hp for now and bout 500-575 hp in the future.

just wondering where you guys all fell with yours, and please dont think i mean only the drag cars i mean all your rides.

Not sure but the last time we were at the track my Olds was able to just kiss into the 12s in the 1/4

I always say 300 hp:D

The engine in my Anglia isn't much. Probably in the area of 275HP

The factory HP rating on the engine in my coupe was 375. It should be putting out at least that much now if the factory rating was near accurate......at least it looks like it should put out that much.:D

Following the 'cheep N easy' route of the rat, I generally dont mess with anything over freshing up a motor with rings and rod/mains--as needed. And usually end up with a deep gear with an AOD tranny--makes for a good botom end.. Generally I end up stripping alot of weight off a project --33 dodge PU-26 T Sedan-- and end up with a 200 HP 2500 pound car.

When circle tracking there was a general rule of thumb that 10 pounds removed acted like 1 hp added. 100 pounds=10 hp 1000 lbs stripped=100 hp.

A 200 HP stock block in a 2500 pound car should generally act like a 300 HP Hot Rod Camero. With skinny tires and a deep gear, makes for a fun-traction limited- ride thats plenty sporty for a street car.

My engine stock is 315HP I now have a modified tunnel ram with dual holley 4bbl carbs and custom headers. So I think it is around 350ish HP in a 1900 pound truck

Got you all beat! My smog-lawed 302 and 2bbl cranked out 145hp brand new in '84 with all the smog crap on it. Without all that, I may be getting 170. It's plenty though....for now :D

Hmmmm, lets see. '32 3 window had a GM Goodwrench engine with a cam change and carbs, about 275 hp. '31 Coupe had a 283, about 220 hp. The Biscayne had a 500 hp 454 crate engine from Speedomotive and the '51 Ford has a 421 Pontiac SD with ported heads and a cam, perhaps 450 hp. The '49 Ford has a stock 302 out of an '86 Mustang.

Mines probably 150hp. Chevy 250 6 in the rat truck.

IMO - thats a prime example of a great 'Rat Motivator'. I worked with the oldest boy on a glass 26T rat, with a 250, running two progressive 2bbls and a PAW cam. 4.5 gear 3 speed automatic with a powerglide convertor and sticky tires. Maybe 170 hp on a good day. Good torque and a good launch for the stoplight wars, but only about a 70 mph top end twisted up tight.

His Little 5' tall girlfriend (looked like a 13 year old) would race the local cowboys at the lights in their souped up PUs and Cameros, and whupped up on some pretty potent street cars. It was fun to watch--She'd line up with some over carbed-over cammed Silverado full of redneck school boys, and pullem a car-length outta the hole :p..

Ahh the good ole daze..

The engine isn't completely built yet but I'm hoping to pump out 175hp from the 8BA flathead. I think flatheads are the highest hp/cost ratio engine out there. For half the cost I could pick up a crate engine with 3x the hp, but where's the fun in that.

Watever and wenever I completely decide wat Im building, I have a pump gas blown 355ci sbc thats around the 5-550 horse area. But who knows wat it will be in. LOL RR
