Never built a engine, know how to do very basic maintenance on cars. Doing research here on everything to do with building a rat rod. The object of my design is a VW bug. A very good friend of mine said that's how he learned everything he knows about cars, a volkwagon bug.

Welcome Greydeath [ wondering how you chose that screen name?] Anyway, nothin wrong with learning on a VW. My first car was a 48 Hillman:eek: LOL

LOL radiator!

Ya think I can install one!? ;)

As for the name it was the nick name of a merc in a Japanese anime. Being Japanese American and born in Los Angeles in the 70's. I have alot of influences. My five year old daughter absolutely loved the rat rods and the one Scotty Chops made. "Daddy this one is just my size!" At Sparky's car show in San Carlos.

I don't have alot of time and doing temp work and being inbetween jobs. Very LAME! So hope to one day save up the money and built one. Been thinking of buying a VW engine and learning how to rebuild it, until I can get the rest of the car. :D

Yep, there are a few Volksrats here. What ever you choose to build - patience, persistence, and a little cash.

Welcome to RRR, greydeath. A volksrat is a good place to start. Quite a few of them around here.

mad as hell

Decided to get ready for building a rat rod. Take a weilding class. Not a single one is offered for fall semester at the local JC. THANKS Governer Arine!

If you know anyone that welds, talk to 'em. See if they'll show you the basics and help you get a good welder. Then practice..... alot.
