Recently bought one from CL for $200 needed whole new cap and consumables $36.00 got them today and the thing actually works (not as well as they claim) but works. Cuts 18 ga. sheet metal very well but the claimed 1/8" is a struggle.
I'll play with is some more today and see if I can get a clean cut in 1/8. Overall I'm happy with it for cutting sheet metal $236.00 is cheap for a shear that will cut unlimited length or width plus curves easily.

By the way it is an all in one unit (onboard compressor) 110 volt and has nice long leads and power cord

We run Hypertherms on our CNC. We just yesterday switched out the 600 that is a 40 amp cutter for a 1250 that is an 80 amp cutter. WOW what a difference in speed.

Hypertherm is the top of the line for plasma cutters. I think you did very well.

With welders & cutters, always make sure you have good ground.

Beercan

This particular plasma cutter has a very light gauge wire and clamp for the ground, I mentioned that to my dealer and he said it's not really a ground but just a return or loop for the current, not really sure what he meant by that. It will actually cut without the ground wire even hooked up (kinda crazy).

I just cut some aluminum with it and it cut it fast and clean 18 gauge

i have forgot to clamp the ground on my plasma before as well-and you're right- they will cut without it attached, but my experience is it is not near as good a cut or as "clean"
also remember on plasma cutters clean metal cuts a whole lot better than rusty or painted...
