Hello for San Antonio, TX. Got to this forum from a link on the FTE forum and thought I would check it out. Looks like my sort of place. I am currently working on a '50 Ford F-1 and have two others in the wings warming up. The one in work now has a 226 I-6 with a three speed. Also have a '50 F-1 with a 239 V-8 Flatty and a '50 F-2 with a 226 I-6. The one in work now will be a modified restore. The F-1 with the V-8 is one I am considering doing a rat rod. The F-2 is still sitting in the woods waiting to be picked up. Looking forward to sharing ideas with everyone. Got my start "back in the day" with a hotrod club in my home town of Driscoll, TX., Pop. 150 if you count the cats and dogs. Paid $50.00 for my first car (1941 chevy conv.) after working on the farm all summer at age 12, (1952) and was hooked. Have owned a number of classic cars in the past and hope for more in the future. What is now called "Rat Rod" is what I started on, so I guess I am coming back to my roots. I will post some pictures as soon as I figure out how to do it.

Welcome to RRR! I've been on FTE quite a while - mostly in the 61-66 and Y-block forums. You'll like it here too - good people with positive attitudes.

Will be waiting for those pics.....

Welcome to RRR, flatheadgil. This is just the palce for you. Looking forward to seeing pics of your rides.

Thanks for the welcome. Glad to be here. As for having the first F-1 on the site, 50Ford is using the cab from a 51 F-1 for his project. An F-1 is a half ton short bed step side pickup built between 1948 and 1952. It is also known as a "bonus built" truck. Marketing language used by Ford at the time to indicate that you would get a "bonus" of quality built into the truck. The 1948 was the first of the "F" series truck. Ford changed the designator to F-100 in 1953.

Yep, I guess my leg has been officially "Pulled". I thought it kinda odd that someone had never heard of an F-1, but you never know. After looking around the site, I see there are a lot of F-1s. Can't say that is a bad choice. The other good thing is I can get a lot of ideas. Just remember payback can be rough sometime. :D
