I couldn't get the generator in our motorhome to run today.
Took the carb off and it was gummed up and plugged up.
It ran fine 2 months ago.

It runs off the main fuel tank on this rig and I try to run sea foam in it every other fill up.
I'm thru whining now.

sea foam didnt work for me I run it threw my gen and shut it down by running it out of gas less than 4 months it was gummed up ...ruined 2 moto cycle carbs ,,, if you dont run it once a week for about 5 to 10 min. your asking for trouble .J.M.O. Ive had this discussion on another site about a year ago and got some heated feed back , saying it aint the gas !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY BIG OLE BUT , IT IS TOO THE GAS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im not that old but I never had any problems with small engines sitting of for a year or two and still start and run fine even with old gas still in the tank ... it may have stunk , but it would still run the engine .... you can run your gen. 2 times a month and may be ok ...... I have used stable with the same results .... I just run it ( if I can remember ) .. My sons moto cycle was screwed up and my daughters moto cycle was screwed at the same time... we cleaned the carb on them both till they were worn out , had to choke it or wouldnt idle ,,, had to get a new carb for both ... they run like a top right now . EBAY carbs were cheap made , but they work perfect (right now ) Well pops I done got carried away .. sorry about that ,,, I guess Im done too ...

There are stations around the country that sell non ethanol gas. Just Google "Non ethanol gas stations" in your town, and they will pop up. You will pay a little more, but your gas engine will thank you.

Yep, ethanol gas is one of the biggest farces they have ever come up with. In something like a daily driver, where you use it up fast, it is ok, but not for something that sits.

Don

Ethanol gas is fine for late model fuel injected stuff that gets driven, not for carbs and stuff that sits a lot. Only pure gas I can get around here is premium, so that's what all my small engines and farm tractor get. The ethanol eats the rubber up in the carbs, and leaves flaky deposits in the bowls and passages.

It's plumbdampitiful....I had some I drained from a tank I didn't want it sitting in, because I knew the motor would not be used for a while. It sat for months in a plastic gas can. I tried to crank a fire up in the pit with it the other day and it would hardly burn....pitiful!

The 68 C10 I'm getting ready to put an LS engine in, has sat for about six months.
All around the gas tank cap and surrounding body, there's a black residue that looks like mold. The only thing I can connect it to is the unleaded gas vapors escaping.

OLD IRON Ive seen that before around the gas caps and on the side of the body around the cap , but I hadnt thought much about that till you mentioned it

Add to the ethanol crud, there's also the winter blend junk too. So even the non-ethanol gas is crappier half the year.

yep, when I open the gas door on my daily driver, it is black with something mold-like. I clean it off and it keeps coming back. I figure it is from escaping fumes, but not sure.

Don

I bet that black mold looking stuff is where the vapors are deteriorating the rubber gasket around the cap, much like it does rubber hoses...

Ive just bit the bullet and been runnin 110 in my chevy. I needs 100 but i cant buy that in town here so when i drive it i save up and go down to the fuel depot in town and buy race gas. Truck hasnt had ay carb problems since

I've fought it in my log splitter and my chain saws for the last 4-5 years it seams. It does get old.

I've ran AV gas with no problems and a fraction of the cost.
Buy it at the local airport and put it in a 55 gal drum.

Now there's an idea that might work. What's the octane level?

Way back when I was a different person we would syphon gas out of the spray planes in rural Texas into my Chevelle. I don't condone such behavior and a I
am sorry. That's when gas was gas!!!

Between 100 and 130
I was told at the airport the 100 is their minimum and most of the time it is 130.

We used to buy it at the flying club... cash, no questions asked and they'd put it in a mason jar or a friggin' Tupperware bowl if that's what ya brung. :D

Our gov't put a halt to that nonsense. They don't care about us hooligans burning good fuel, but they do care for their tax revenues. Av gas, like purple "farm" fuel (also burned occasionally, I've heard ) is, or was, exempt from certain taxes applied at the pump.
