i was bored today and was looking at a mini trucking mag. and found some pics of a guy who made his floor out of plexi glass, that actually sounds pretty cool to me. that and i found another engine to go with in the lincoln, 351C partially built a few years ago, pushin 400-450 hp. comes with tranny for $500 form a guy on base

Only if you were never going to drive it.

Plexi doesn't sound all that safe (floor is pretty darn structural in most cars and trucks). ....and it would be a bear to clean/keep clean.

Wouldn't be much differnt that a plexiglass bottom turist boat I suppose only more stress due to harsh road conditions. Ford put plexiglass roofs in the 50's Starliners and Sun Valley Mercs. Don't think it was glass.

yeah, but in my case it would only be a few panels, pretty much a panel for each seat, and metal all around it for support

It was a fad for a while for showcars to have plexiglass floors to show off the chrome and detailed underpinnings. One show hot rod had an all chromed drivetrain, transmission and all, and they wanted the people and judges to see it.

On the street your clean plexiglass would last about a week tops, I bet.

I think that plexiglass for a floor would not be good - to much of a distraction - This is not what they meant when they said - " Keep your eyes on the road"

And you'll have to remember you can't ditch your beer through the floorboards if the cops are on you!

Funny story: A buddy dumped his full beer through a floorboard hole when getting pulled over. Still got busted cause the beer had splattered up onto the cops windshield! DOH!
