Snake Farm
Ol school snake charmer!
Been gone a bit. Some of you may recall my "Well guys.....I gotta go" post a couple weeks or so ago when I left abruptly with the message "12D-AEOTS"
Well, I've always liked "Big Machinery" and I heard there was something big and interesting parked in Bayonne, NJ.... so we went to check it out. Was a little disappointed upon arrival when it turned out to be a big apartment building instead of a piece of machinery.....
...however upon further inspection we stepped back a bit and found that it was indeed a big piece of machinery. In fact it was 1,020 feet long, 157 feet wide and 200 feet tall and weighed 142,000 tons !
So we got in line with 2,994 other folks (there was six of us)....
...and began "12D-AEOTS" (12 Days Aboard Explorer Of The Seas)
Once on board we began our sight seeing before we even set sail.
New York City skyline....
The evening sun shining on the "Green Lady" in the harbor......
And topping off the tank with 'high test'
But at 29 degrees we were soon froze and headed in to check our "home for the next twelve days"
As a builder by trade I'm always amazed at the architecture of these ships and this one is very impressive in many ways but for some reason the tile work seemed to catch my eye the most....
to be continued....
