I'm strictly "Dumb-Phone" but a common problem, regardless the source, is file size.
The "Manage Attachments" page gives maximum size. I'm guessing your phone takes pictures larger than 1000 wide and if that's the case, you'll have to resize the image... or set you phone's camera to take pics in a smaller size.
